Saint Valentine's Day Massacre!

It has taken a month for the dust to settle on the melee that was this year's St. Valentine's Day Massacre skate contest.
The forty some entrants were let loose on a one-of-a-kind "obstacle course" for one afternoon and the kids got busy! Despite sunny Portland skies outside, the jam format that went down generated enough energy to power the next three Dew Tours.  Shit went off!  You can't manufacture that stoke...it just happens.                                            All photos by BRYCE KANIGHTS

M&M brought a satellite dish to keep it weird.                                       Brian Baca says, "Stay on top."

Tyson Reynolds murdered the course, including clean tre snaps onto the Manik wedge...oh yeah, he took the bag of cash for best trick (not shown).

First place finisher Brian Baca, who bailed very little in the final jam  and crowd favorite  Colin Crespino (green shirt)  fourth place  finisher.

Compton is so smooth, even  when he falls....(which is rare).  Clean pop too.  Well-deserved 2nd place for the kid with one name.

Zach Bird arrived early from Eugene to wreck shop.  Third place finisher.

Thanks to all those who helped out, namely the companies that built obstacles: Manik, M&M, Jivaro, Sauce Zine, Bacon, Merde, Tribute and Skatedaily.net.  Big ups to our judges and MC Tubesock who kept the announcing semi-appropriate and swift.  And of course, an extra round of applause to Kyle Reynolds at D.O.S. and his crew who graciously allowed us to barge the spot and create a different type of Portland event.     It was a true testament to WE  skater's first love :  SKATING!
